Hermès strengthens its bond with France by opening a new training and manufacturing facility in Fitilieu, in the Isère department, near Lyon.
Named Ateliers de Fitilieu, the new leather workshop is Hermès’s 17th factory in France, where the brand’s whole production is based.
The facility includes a training center for leather craftsmen, saddle makers, experts in cutting and mechanics, and is meant to host around one hundred workmen.
The fashion house has got other plans in store to further boost the local economy. Hermès also intends to establish new leather production sites in Guyenne and Montereau (respectively in the departments of Gironde and Seine-et-Marne).
The first stone will be laid between June and September of this year. Each facility will welcome 250 of the brand’s craftsmen.
