Sixty galleries of modern and contemporary art to be discovered in eight itineraries
Paris Gallery Weekend, scheduled from 2 to 5 July, wants more than ever to relaunch the cultural and artistic life of the city. After a total blockade lasting more than two months, the galleries are once again the protagonists. For four days, in four areas of the capital, including Pantin and Romainville, part of a new district in Grand Paris, visitors will be able to discover more than 72 exhibitions, including 47 solo and 25 group exhibitions.
With more than 7500 presences in 2019, Paris Gallery Weekend is one of the best known European events to experience art and appreciate it in its natural context, that of galleries. Also for this reason, Paris founded Art Across Europe in 2020 together with the weekend galleries in Brussels, Madrid, Lisbon and Milan, a European network that aims to promote the various artistic squares of the participating cities by encouraging intra-European mobility and celebrating its cultural richness.
To guide collectors and enthusiasts, Paris Gallery Weekend offers eight routes: 8e arrondissement, Marais (Beaubourg> Saint-Paul), Marais (Richard Lenoir> Quatre-Fils), Marais (Saint-Gilles> Amelot), Marais (Temple> Beaubourg) , Pantin-Romainville, Saint-Germain-des-Prés.
The thematic selections were handled by Paris Photo, Drawing Now and A Round Video Art Fair.
Paris Gallery Weekend is supported by the Ministry of Culture and the City of Paris. In addition to these, the Comité Professionnel des Galeries d’Art and the ADAGP are added in 2020. The event could not take place without the significant support of partners such as the Fondation d’entreprise Ricard, Emerige, Camille Fournetor John Taylor.
Created on the initiative of Marion Papillon in 2014, the Paris Gallery Weekend is directed today by Marie Delas, in close collaboration with a gallery owners’ committee which includes Anne-Sarah Bénichou (Galerie Anne-Sarah Bénichou), Nathalie Berghege (Galerie Lelong & Co) , Eric Dereumaux (Galerie RX), Sandrine Djerouet (Galerie Jocelyn Wolff), Léo Marin (Galerie Eric Mouchet), Jérôme Poggi (Galerie Jérôme Poggi).
All the works on display are available on Artsy.
