Hoping to be able to experience the first post-pandemic season, summer 2022 for men’s fashion sees a refined and sustainable style.

Pitti Uomo was the first high fashion fair to restart in attendance. The catwalks showed the new trends for next spring-summer.

Sustainability at Pitti

This is the name of the new section of the fair, which debuted just this year, with the aim of hosting the most innovative sustainable high fashion projects.

Sustainability at Pitti was the perfect place for projects such as the Katharine Hamnett x Patrick McDowell capsule collection: water-based prints, certified cotton and items from previous collections that have been renewed.

The capsule collection also launched a strong political message.

The ‘Help’ lettering in large letters on all garments draws attention to the difficulties of the British fashion industry caused by Brexit.

The new Pitti Uomo section was also the ideal showcase for the very Italian designer Andrea Zanola of Patchouli_Studio, characterized by his green knitwear.

There is also Giulia Petronella who with the Woo brand has made the green by Salento famous.

Sustainable men’s fashion

Many luxury fashion brands have produced new collections in full pandemic and all have chosen to capture the attention of the public and buyers through choices that respect the environment.

Re-cotton by Paul & Shark, for example, has structured the entire collection with recycled materials; Roy Roger’s goes beyond the single garment and focuses his green efforts also on the production of sustainable packaging.

That’s not all: the Outdoor Canadian line presented itself at Pitti Uomo with garments and accessories produced exclusively from reprocessed polluting materials, starting for example from plastic bottles.

Closed showed its models with denim garments whose dyes were exclusively of natural origin. Respect for the environment was expressed not only thanks to not having used chemical elements but also by re-evaluating the production processes and thus saving large quantities of water.

Not only clothes but also accessories: Tbd Eyewear has revolutionized the world of sunglasses, presenting at Pitti Uomo this accessory produced with cellulose extracted from wood and cotton fibers, making them natural, biodegradable and completely recyclable.
