In San Candido, immersed in the splendid setting of the Dolomites, is the Naturhotel Leitlhof, which has always been the standard-bearer of sustainability.
At the basis of this new way of experiencing green luxury tourism is the offer of the hotel owner, Stephan Mühlmann, who has always characterized his structure for luxury and respect for the environment.
A zero-emission hotel
Stephan’s challenge was a difficult one: to find a method that would lead the hotel to produce sufficient sustainable energy to run and heat the entire structure independently.
The system has been perfected over the years, studying similar examples around the world, since there is no such thing in Italy.
After much study, sacrifice and commitment, Stephan has finally succeeded in his intent: a particular thermoelectric power plant and an impressive system of photovoltaic systems have made the Naturhotel Leitlhof “climate neutral”.
Completely autonomous, the hotel lowers CO2 emissions per guest per night from 85.5 to 12.2 kg.
Not only that: the main source of renewable energy used is represented by trunks and branches fallen in the woods following atmospheric events.
The Naturhotel Leitlhof thus helps to clean up the surrounding forests.
Certification and sustainable luxury
This splendid hotel in the heart of the Dolomites has also obtained, among many others, the Climate Partner Certification.
Choosing a holiday in a “nature positive hotel” is a unique experience, true luxury becomes the awareness of not causing any damage to such a delicate and precious environment.
Naturally, every detail of the Leitlhof is designed in the name of sustainability: wood and glass are the materials of every prestigious indoor environment, the cuisine is organic and at zero km, and the wellness offer also embraces respect for the environment.
Enjoying a Finnish sauna, a Turkish bath or a saline steam bath immersed in the surrounding environment thanks to large windows that embrace the landscape is a unique experience.
All kinds of essential oils, creams or treatments used in the wellness area are certified organic and based only on natural elements.
