An artistic spring break with the 17th edition.
APERTI is back to welcome the public to the workshops of 77 artists. The event reaches its 17th edition, after the success of the last one, and will take place the weekend of 6 and 7 May 2023 in Lausanne and its surroundings. A moment that celebrates art, sharing and discovering those secret places where artists work and give form to their creativity. Of the seventy-seven artists involved, seventeen are newcomers, all working in the fields of painting, drawing, photography, sculpture as well as printing, artistic ceramics, collage and multimedia installations. A true open-air artistic kaleidoscope. A creative hub that becomes an artistic escape accessible to all.
Meeting the artists
This unique event is also a wonderful opportunity to meet the artists, learn more about their work and experience art en plein air. For the 2023 edition, some of those artists are planning special events, with demos as well as site-specific, immersive and interactive installations. The weekend, dedicated to art, will be preceded by a panel discussion on 3 May at 6.30 pm at Le Salon, Casino de Montbenon in Lausanne. The artists Hélia Aluai, Patricio Gil Flood, Agathe Naito and the anthropologist and curator, Clotilde Wuthrich, will be present and will discuss the material production and intellectual process behind the work of an artist. The meeting will be moderated by RTS journalist Julie Kummer.
The artists of APERTI’s 17th edition
Numerous artists have joined this initiative and decided to open their hidden treasures by exhibiting their ateliers. These include the duo Sylvie Mermoud and Pierre Bonard, who intertwine their universes with nature and minerals. There is also space for music with the sound and visual installation by Carole Rey on Steve Reich, pioneer of minimalist music. Mental landscapes and possible volcanoes are the works of Sophie Bosselut – a visual artist who graduated from the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in 2009 – whose abstract works are microcosms where she seeks to show what animates the human being. Naomi Middelmann explores the process of memory and the subjectivity of memories with her immersive and interactive work. The world of photography is also represented with Matthieu Gafsou winner of the Ruinart prize at Paris Photo in 2022. Emerging artists include Aebischer Charlotte, Udriot Vanessa, Gross Rosalie, Farhan Karim, Bosselut Sophie, Anderegg Hansjoerg and Haenggi Lou.
