Badrutt’s Palace Hotel

Reveals the secret of the best hospitality.

The only mountain and ski resort in the world listed in The World’s 50 Best Hotels 2023, since its opening in 1896 has been experienced by its guests as something special, emotional and real, thanks to high performance, innovation and omnipresent human emotion. The list of guests who have stayed at Badrutt’s Palace Hotel is long and impressive: Coco Chanel, Charlie Chaplin, Alfred Hitchcock, Marlene Dietrich and many others.

A close connection between staff and guests that often turns into friendships is the secret of Badrutt’s Palace Hotel in St. Moritz, or better, one of its secrets. The Palace stands out also for its extraordinary gastronomic offer, a unique experience in the Swiss Alps: with its 13 restaurants concept – more than any other luxury hotel – it offers to guests a culinary travel around the world.

Chef Jeremy Degras

Executive Chef Jeremy Degras (previously in France and Dubai) enter his first full winter season, together with Cristina Iuculano, the new Italian sommelier. Two fine dine pop-up restaurants will delight with a cosmopolitan cuisine the guests’ stay: the 2-star Michelin chef Eric Kragh Vildgaard and restaurant manager Tina Kragh Vildgaard from the Jordnær Restaurant in Copenhagen are staying at Badrutt’s Palace in the first half of the season, together with Zineb Hattab from the Zurich restaurant Kle, also guest of the Hotel. This winter, the Carigiet Fondue Stübli also opens its doors in the Chesa Veglia. With only-three tables and space for 12 guests, it is a must-experience for fondue fans! Then, Nobu Matsuhisa will also come as special guest to the Badrutt’s Palace in February 2024, managing his own restaurant in the Hotel, one of the few Matsuhisa restaurants in the world. Finally, the 2-star Michelin Jordnaer from Denmark joined the Hotel for two months, before Kle from Zurich brought vegan top cuisine to the Badrutt’s.

Badrutt’s Palace – The Grand Hall

Some of the Hotel’s truly exclusive highlights? Well, the management sets a staff of three employees per guest in winter. They take care of them from the beginning, picking them up from the train station in a Rolls-Royce once owned by Queen Elizabeth II!
One of Switzerland’s first nightclubs opened here 60 years ago, reopened in 2018 as King’s Social House, now the exciting restaurant, bar and nightclub of the Hotel.
In the Renaissance Bar the most exclusive vintage cigars await their lovers, while the in-house wine cellar offers more than 30,000 bottles of wine and champagne.

The Paradiso Mountain Club

In 2021 the management added to its portfolio the Paradiso Mountain Club, one of St. Moritz’s hottest ski lodges.
Impossible not to mention the three-story Tower Penthouse Suite, which has been open to guests for two years, directly located in the Hotel’s famous tower and considered one of the most exclusive suites in the Alps.
Moreover, a feast for the eyes for those shopping addicted: the Palace Gallery houses names such as Cartier, Giorgio Armani, Gucci and Louis Vuitton and many other high-end brands to offer a unique shopping experience.
A final note of sustainability: since 2006 the Hotel has been heated 80% of the time in winter with heat from Lake St. Moritz, saving around 676,000 tons of heating oil annually.

This year a hotel extension will be opened, directly opposite to the main house, connected by a tunnel which will give direct access to Chesa Veglia, where the legendary truffle pizza Dama Bianca is served. The new building, designed by architect Antonio Citterio, will house 25 luxurious rooms and suites and in the future will offer guests the opportunity to choose whether they want to enjoy an unforgettable and unique stay in the traditional main house or in the new building.
