Cortina meets the Principality of Monaco: an appointment with Excellence

On 19 February 2016, at the famous Hotel de la Poste, an array of guests from the world of business, culture and sport lit up the presentation of the Principality of Monaco in Cortina organised by the Monaco Tourism and Convention Authority in Milan with a contribution from Countess Paola Mazzucato to the high-calibre audience – Excellence Magazine was present to record events.

A perfect occasion for promoting Monaco’s dynamic economy and the quality of life on offer for anyone who wishes to visit. Doing the honours along with Excellence, was a key partner of the event, Anna Licia Balzan, the Honorary Consul of Monaco in Venice with consular jurisdiction in the regions of Veneto and Trentino Alto Adige.

Balzan highlighted that “with Gloria Svezia, Director of the Monaco Bureau in Milan, we decided to organise this presentation in Cortina because the two areas share many similarities. They have always been centres of excellence hosting events and offering top-quality tourism. Both places are renowned for marrying business and glamour in a unique combination. The Consul continued, saying “this is why Cortina is the perfect place for speaking about Monaco. We will present to our friends in business a Principality which is not only known thanks to articles in glossy magazines, but as a modern and economically-advanced state. It is a state which is looking to the future, with a particular focus on sustainable development, promoted in person by Prince Albert II.
Few people know for example that in a territory of around 2 km2 there are incredible opportunities for events and tourism and a cutting-edge hospital, renowned for its excellence. This is one of the aspects which I am keen to communicate to the world of business, inviting them the discover the Principality in a different light”.

During the event, the close links shared by Monte Carlo and Cortina were highlighted with their connections to sport and nature recalling in particular Prince Albert II’s passion for this venue where, at international competitions in the 1990s, he experienced the thrill of bobsleighing.

Antonio di Franco, the famous barman of the Hotel de la Poste, created a special cocktail for the occasion, named the Winter Monaco, dedicated to the bond between Monaco and the Queen of the Dolomites. A cocktail of excellence prepared with Spumante Opere Brut Villa Sandi especially concocted for the 180 evening guests.

Among these were icons of sport such as Gianni Rivera and Giacomo Agostini, personalities from the world of art including Stefano Contini, the maestro Renato Missaglia, a renowned artist who works between Italy and Monaco, and representatives of the business world such as Mario Moretti Polegato, Giancarlo Moretti Polegato, the prominent Enrico Derflingher, one of the world’s leading chefs, and Luca Caramaschi, Director General of Indosuez.

Other prominent guests included Marquesses Rangoni Macchiavelli, Carlo Alberto and Marylene Corneliani, Luigi and Kira Cimolai, Countess Federica Ferri, Maria Elena Aprea, Carla Zalla, Sonia Tatò, Antonio and Luciana Carraro, Ettore Riello, Franco and Nicoletta Bombassei, Iaia and Vittorio Coin, Fernando and Paola Caovilla, Vanessa Zoppas, Sabrina Benetton and Francesca Mambrini.
