Vintage sailboats in Laguna for the BNL-BNP Paribas Wealth Management Cup.
The two rounds of the “X Principality of Monaco Trophy” regatta promoted by Anna Licia Balzan, Honorary Consul of the Principality of Monaco in Venice with the patronage of the Municipality of Venice and the Italian Navy, took place on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 June, with optimal weather and sea conditions: calm sea with light breeze. The cup was won by Ivan Gardini’s Naïf sail (1973).
At the start 25 Vintage Sailboats
The Trophy, which saw 25 sailboats built between 1858 and 2000 compete, was organized under the sporting direction of Mirko Sguario, president of the Venice Yacht Club and patron of the Venice Hospitality Challenge. Il Portodimare Sailing Club collaborated on the event under the patronage of A.I.V.E., the Italian Vintage Sailing Association. President of the Regatta Committee Giancarlo Frizzarin with Emilia Barbieri.
The stages of the regatta
Along the shores of the San Marco basin, the Ladies of the Sea gave birth to the spectacular sailing of the Principality of Monaco Trophy. Also present the traditional lugsails. The event, hosted by the Navy and the Boat Show, concluded in the Arsenale with the distribution of prizes offered by the Murano glassware Barovier & Toso. The results of the individual regattas will contribute to awarding the A.I.V.E. of the Adriatic 2023.
