On 6th July in Florence, the design masters in auction.
“Design and Decorative Arts of the 20th Century. This is the title of the next auction organized by Pandolfini which will take place on July 6th in Florence.
The oldest Italian auction house founded in 1924, based in Florence, Milan and Rome, offers 326 lots and will be divided into two sessions: the first at 10:30, the second at 15:00.
Among furniture, lighting, ceramics and glass, the new catalog presents the design works of artists of the caliber of Philippe Starck, Gaetano Pesce, Carlo Scarpa, Paolo Buffa and Ettore Sottsass.
From Buffa works, a wooden sideboard with brass feet and a wooden secretaire with flap door will be auctioned, a piece of unique elegance that represents the unmistakable signature of the architect; then the famous Trono Modello Senza Fine in red extruded polyurethane by master Gaetano Pesce with white plastic inclusions; by Gio Ponti, over nine preparatory drawings from the Franco Klein collection.
In the auction also a very rare table in bent iron rod and glass top, an example of high-quality craftsmanship made by Giuseppe De Vivo in 1953.
Then, some furnishings of the Osteria del Contadino, the space redesigned in 1968 by the “radicals” of Superstudio. that marked the history of design, a mirror and a table with a metal structure and granite top, whose stem is completely similar – in terms of materials and construction – to the well-known Super Loto by Sottsass, of which there’s also an extended collection of ceramics and furnishings.
Finally, an exceptional vase by Carlo Scarpa produced in 1927 by CVM (Compagnia Venezia Murano) and a careful selection of furnishings and objects designed by globally known names such as Verner Panton, Afra and Tobia Scarpa,Marco Zanuso, Alessandro Mendini, Melchiorre Bega, Venini, Gabriella Crespi and Joe Colombo.
