Big celebration for the famous Venetian regatta’s 10th anniversary.
The “Venice Hospitality Challenge – City of Venice Grand Prix,” the only regatta in the world to be held within a city circuit, is preparing to celebrate its 10th anniversary edition with important news and Excellence Magazine is media partner of this very important event.
Venice Hospitality Challenge, the regatta
Venice Yacht Club President Mirko Sguario confirmed the mooring of all boats: for the first time, the public will be able to take a closer look at the fleet located at a central point in the Serenissima; this from Thursday 12th , at the Zattere quay where the event headquarters will also be established.
The start for the seventeen competing maxi yachts will be given on Saturday, Oct. 14th , at 1:30 p.m. and will be punctuated, as per tradition, with powerful jets of water from tugboats near Punta della Salute. Presiding over the race committee will be Tito Morosetti assisted by race officials Gianfranco Frizzarin and Emilia Barbieri.
The tenth edition of the regatta sees as always at its side the most important 5-star Venetians hotels: Alajmo Ristorante Quadri, Aman Venice, Bauer Palazzo, Ca’ di Dio VRetreats, Ca’ Sagredo Hotel, Hotel Danieli, Hotel Excelsior, The Gritti Palace, Londra Palace, JW Marriott, Nolinski Venezia, Palazzina, St. Regis, SINA Centurion Palace and Violino d’Oro.
Skippers and crews will compete for the Doge’s Hat, which for this tenth edition was made by historic Murano glassmaker Berengo Studio.
Venice Hospitality Challenge, the exhibition
To celebrate the tenth edition of the regatta, the exhibition “Venice Hospitality Challenge: the Tenth Anniversary“ was also set up. Curated by Patrizia Zambelli, the exhibition aims to be a showcase of a great sporting event related to seafaring and hospitality, to revive those emotions that only great sails in the fantastic setting of Venice can make unforgettable. The public will be able to admire the most beautiful and exciting shots taken by the photographers who for ten years, each with their own look, have interpreted the famous event organized by the Venice Yacht Club. The exhibition is held at the Zattere Palace, until Oct. 15th and is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. with free admission.
Venice Hospitality Challenge, the values
For years, environmental sustainability has been the goal of the Venice Yacht Club, shared by the participating hotels and teams: all clothing will be made by Mureadritta from materials recycled from plastic bottles. At the end of their use, the garments can be reused the following year once again as raw material.
As for the social aspect Venice Hospitality Challenge is also alongside the Anti-Cancer Italian League: the maxi yacht Kiwi – which will hoist the Yacht Club Venezia pennant – as it did last year – will again race for LILT while the Vaporetto Rosa, an environmentally friendly hybrid vessel, will accompany the regatta to publicize the importance of breast cancer prevention.
Tourism Councillor Simone Venturini emphasized the importance of the regatta for Venice: “A great event that over the years has created a powerful network for the city that, without forgetting the social and environmental aspect, is consistently placed in the international sports and tourism scene with what the Administration aims for.”
