Stella McCartney launches summer 2023 campaign

Starring next-generation actress, Netflix star Madelyn Cline.

A hand outstretched to the environmentalist and ecological sensibility, so prominent in contemporary times and the new generation. Stella McCartney looks to the summer season with an irreverent and fresh spirit, loaded with socio-cultural messages. The face for this summer 2023 campaign is none other than natural beauty Madelyn Cline, the up-and-coming star of the Netflix series ‘Outer Banks’ and the recent film ‘Glass Onion: Knives Out.

Stella McCartney’s campaign was created at The Gentle Barn animal sanctuary in Santa Clarita, California, and is inspired by the activist slogan ‘Change the History’ by Japanese artist Yoshitomo Nara, whose illustrations and punk statements are featured in the collection.

“There’s really nothing more beautiful than developing a bond with an animal,” says the young actress and animal lover with over 16 million Instagram followers. “This collection is special to me for that very reason, and when Stella told me we were shooting the campaign with the animals at The Gentle Barn, I was thrilled. We spent the day loving, feeding and getting to know all the animals. We are all connected and this collection celebrates a harmonious relationship between fashion, animals and our Earth.”

‘Change the History’ is a call to action for a new generation of change-makers to raise their voices for our fellow humans and our Planet. “What is more punk than overturning the entire food and fashion industrial complex by removing animal products from the equation?” says Stella McCartney. “My mantra right now,” she adds, “is, ‘We are what we eat, we are what we wear.’ Our choices have an extremely interconnected impact, and if we want to change history and protect Mother Earth for future generations, we need to take action: from stopping eating meat to ending unnecessary animal deaths for fashion.”

Stella McCartney’s summer 2023 collection, presented at the Centre Pompidou during Paris Fashion Week, is free of leather, feathers, fur and exotic skins. The collection also includes the world’s first luxury garment made from regenerative cotton from Stella McCartney’s ‘Soktas’ project in Turkey.
