Fontainbleau is a beautiful Regence style commode, reproduction of the original ormolu-mounted tulipwood and parquetry commode, designed by the Slodtz brothers and executed by Antoine Gaudreaux. The historic piece of art was designed and created in 1739 for the king’s use in Louis XV’s cabinet à pans at Versailles and it’s now in the Cabinet Des Médailles at the Bibliothèque Nationale.
Created by hand by Italian craftsmen, the new edition created by Jumbo Collection is realized with marble top, an elaborate parquetry inlaid with geometric designs, and lost-wax casted bronzes marvelously chiseled and then gilded. In the new edition, on the two central doors, the mythological figures inside the oval medallions will have been replaced with light floral decorations. The commode-médaillier will be produced in a limited edition of 30 copies.
