SLH’s first time with a company aimed at outdoor hospitality.
Under Canvas, a leader in luxury outdoor hospitality, and Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH), the collection of more than 540 luxury hotels located around the world – announce a collaboration, with 9 properties of the group Under Canvas, as well as the first ULUM resort, who will become part of SLH.
“As the premier outdoor hospitality brand in the United States, the inclusion of Under Canvas and ULUM properties to the Small Luxury Hotels of the World portfolio is a natural fit, further elevating Under Canvas as a leader in the glamping industry. This partnership expands our global network and offers discerning travelers privileged access to iconic open-air destinations” commented Libbie Rice, Chief Commercial Officer.
Kenan Simmons, Senior Vice-President – Americas of Small Luxury Hotels of the World, added: “We are excited to welcome Under Canvas and ULUM, the outdoor resort, to our ever-expanding portfolio. Our guests are always looking for new experiences in close contact with nature without having to give up the comforts of luxury hospitality; we are confident that this new glamping proposal will exceed their expectations. These new destinations, close to America’s stunning national parks and their extraordinary amenities, demonstrate our ongoing commitment to offering a unique luxury experience with a sustainable character that prioritizes and values environmental responsibility“.
Under Canvas’ high-end tents, find inspiration in the “safari” style, furnished with king-size beds, top-of-the-line linens, USB chargers, bed lanterns, wood stoves, terraces and private bathrooms. Some of these exclusive accommodations feature a Stargazer Tent, for stargazing thanks to a panoramic window above the double bed.
The Signature Tents lobby features contemporary furnishings from West Elm and design elements that echo the location. Embers, the brand’s dining experience, is the gathering place for dining and relaxing with menus from fresh, healthy dishes.
Suggesting the best nearby excursions and attractions for guests, both inside and outside the resort, available are the Guest Experience Coordinators: from live music programs, yoga, and, for sports and adventure lovers, horseback riding, canyoning, guided hikes in national parks, river trips, and many other activities.
On the other hand, ULUM Under Canvas’ new brand, proposes a hospitality concept where the luxury and the respect for the nature become the focus of the experience. In the middle of the Utah desert, just steps from the Looking Glass Arch and surrounded by a majestic sandstone cliff face, ULUM® Moab offers sophisticated comfort, unparalleled views, and the opportunity to explore an area with unique hiking. A mansion consisting of only suites, a restaurant, swimming pools, experience showers, Aesop courtesy lines, and wellness-oriented programs, including relaxation and self-care sessions in sound baths and the star bath.
The mainstay of the Under Canvas brand experience and ethos is based on the Mindful Approach, which minimizes energy use through a strong ecological footprint, for example with the use of chain showers, low-flow toilets, and battery charging in tents. Under Canvas and ULUM resorts are designed to minimize disturbance and experience open space at its best and with awareness, with dedicated and private green areas. The properties are designed to fit the natural topography of the land without negatively disrupting the natural environment, minimizing impacts in the areas of waste management, water use, and lighting.
Under Canvas Lake Powell – Grand Staircase recently earned the title of the world’s first Dark Sky certified resort awarded by the International Dark-Sky Association, an organization that certifies “oases of perfect darkness” to be safeguarded against light pollution.
