Golf‘s most prestigious competition, the third most important and most watched sporting event in the world after the Olympics and the World Cup, reaches its 44th edition: the Ryder Cup comes to Rome!
In the municipality of Guidonia Montecelio about 15 km from the center of the capital Sept. 29th to Oct. 1st, at Marco Simone Golf and Country Club will take place one of the most anticipated events for all golfers: the Ryder Cup, the most important international golf event, which was first played in America in 1927, and named after the English businessman who conceived it, Simon Ryder. A special and unique tournament that pits the United States and Europe against each other, which does not include prize money but only the cup, and is the only sporting event in which the Old Continent competes as a team.
Over the six total days, three practice and three competition days, the top 12 European golfers will compete with the Team led by Luke Donald and the top 12 Americans with the Team led by Zach Johnson. About 250,000 spectators from 85 different nations are expected to attend the occasion.
