The Swim-Run Serenissima Venezia is back. An event that was officially born in 2006, when the “Ötillo” (meaning “Island to Island”) race was first held in Sweden. Today, “Ötillo” has become a worldwide circuit that organizes Swim-Run races in different places around the world. This year, the Swim-Run is in Venice with its second edition, hosted by a magical place like Marina di Sant’ Elena, in the heart of the Venetian lagoon. The last edition was also held in this magical place.

The two days of competition

Saturday, June 24, is the swimming competitions day. They will start at 3:30 p.m. and athletes will compete in the 800, 1800 and 3500 meters. Instead, Sunday 25 is the Men’s, Women’s and Mixed Swim-Run and Relay races. They will compete to the rhythm of music with DJ Alberto Milani of Radiosterocittà and the captivating live commentary of speaker Gilberto Zorat.

Kima srls, a company founded to create and promote Venice through new sports events, has created this race between land and sea. “The Swim-Run Serenissima Venezia is a unique event organized in Venice historic center that celebrates sport and Venice at the same time. A “tailor-made” race in an exclusive and special city that is one of the most beautiful stage-set in the world,” Kima had in fact declared.

The Swim-Run Race in Venice

A huge and authentic success, also driven by the boom of enrollments: both for Sunday’s Swimrun and Saturday’s swim races. The race includes: four running sections with a view on St. Mark’s Basin and the overwater walkways and four consecutive and alternating swimming sections, for a total of 8 km of running and 2,200 meters of swimming.

It will start at 10:00 a.m. with the running section in front of St. Helen’s Church, in and around the Marina, along St. Helen’s Island and finishing at the dock. The swimming section will take place in the internal stretch of water inside the dock, marked by water buoys. In the last swimming section, athletes will arrive at the finish line after walking the 200 meters of dock that is suspended over the lagoon. From 12 noon, the relay race starts, which will be marked by two running sections alternated with one swimming section.

Various sponsors made this event unique and possible, and Excellence Magazine is among them as Media Partner.
