Milan Fashion Graduate 2023

Fashion Graduate 2023

Young people are the future of fashion.

Fashion Graduate 2023 was staged in Milan, a three-day event in which student proposals from top fashion institutes took to the runway.
The event is, as it is every year, a unique opportunity to observe the innovative ideas of young people, who are in effect the future of the international fashion world.

Istituto Europeo di Design, for example, presented the best of Fashion Design graduates from the Group’s Italian offices: ten capsule collections mirroring the current state of fashion. In the international show Talent to Talent, the IED São Paulo’s Melancholy collection also parades.

The fashion show titled FUTURE STARTS SLOW” at the ninth edition of Fashion Graduate Italia by Piattaforma Sistema Formativo Moda saw the 12 Fashion Design graduates taking turns on the catwalk as an expression of the creative talent of the IED School of Fashion. The collections for men, women and genderless of Annarita Biava, Annalisa Corvace, Alessio Dolfi and Carlotta Mora, Daria Gastaldi, Dorotea Oddo, Matteo Rosellini, Zineb Sannak, Angelica Siddi, Maria Chiara Sorbino, Zhang Susy and Yang Jieru are a snapshot of the current state of fashion, a personal view but also filtered by the changes that take place in each individual’s life. At the center of every project we always find the person: the garment adds to, accompanies the individual, dresses him or her but the focus always remains his or her interiority. An optimistic invitation to slow down, Future Starts Slow also draws attention to the natural scanning of time that sustainable production would require.

The collaboration between FGI and the International Relations Office of the City of Milan for the Talent to Talent project was renewed again this year, with the aim of creating synergies with some of Milan’s sister cities. The cities invited in 2023 were Toronto and São Paulo, which is why garments from the Melancholy capsule collection by IED São Paulo student Lara Campos de Oliveira also walked the runway at the opening.

Another institute present is the Ferrari Fashion School: guiding theme of the ninth edition, hosted at BASE Milan, is Do You Remember the Future?”
